Choices

Have you all seen that Nutri-Grain commercial? I like how realistic it is. How real life it is. How it depicts how easy it is to make one 'wrong choice' can trigger a downward spiral. I like how without really coming out and saying it how it emphasis that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. That if we wake up and have one of those fast food biscuit with egg/sausage that is worth 1, 000 calories. If and when we make such a choice for breakfast when lunch time comes around its easier to pick pizza over a salad/healthier choice. So we are more likely to have pizza, soda and a cookie for lunch as opposed to having a salad and a cup of water with some fruit.

I guess what I'm trying to say is the first food choice we make in the morning is what we stick with for the rest of the day be it lunch and/or dinner. Its just hard to break the cycle. You know the same way the first song you hear in the morning stays in your head for the rest of the day? yup that way!

SO. Let's all strive to wake up and choose right. Oatmeal over a greasy breakfast sandwich. A salad/tuna sandwich over a few slices of pizza. A healthy dinner choice over left over pizza. You catch my drift? the first choice you make in the morning is a greatly determines the choices you make throughout the day.

My practical example from today:

Breakfast- 4 slices of bacon, 3 sausage links
Lunch- 2 hard boiled eggs
Dinner-4 slices of pepperoni pizza
Water-Zilch

Loaded Oatmeal

I shared some pictures from this summer's vacay with friends and it was so motivating to hear all things good about how great I looked and how I've lost "a lot of weight"

I've not done sit ups in a while neither have I been running. But the other day I walked into the local store and they had a sale for oatmeal and all the healthy breakfast condiments. And really who has such a sale? right? So my awesome best person grabbed me a bunch of heart healthy oatmeal and vanilla extract. And guess what? this morning I had filling loaded oatmeal for breakfast. My loaded oatmeal contains; 1/2 cuppa oats, a tbs of brown sugar, a tbs of vanilla extract, a handful of raisins, a handful of cranberries and a dash of freshly ground cinnamon. Absolutely delish and filling :) I greatly recommend you try if you already haven't.

Besides that its kinda slow in my neck of the woods. But I'll be back soon with more updates.

Y'all have a week full of healthy eating and drinking choices

XO!!!

Progress

So I've not been good with my weight loss blogging. But that is because I barely have time. I'm a lurker on all of your lovely blogs. I may not comment as much as I'd love to but I'm reading all of your posts and sharing in your journeys and more so cheering you on :)

I've been staying on top of my eating and drinking habits. I have to say even though I've not been working out as much as I'd like, making healthy eating and drinking choices counts too! I've gone down from a size 14 to a 12 and much to my surprise the size 12 jeans are starting to hang a lil loose and my 40DDD bras fit better without the pouring out at the top :) My face has also gotten a lot more clearer..hardly any break outs. Still chugging my water especially in this heat I have to and drinking my black tea that is full of antioxidants.

However, I still need to put a lot of work on my arms and stomach area. I had my best person take nekkid pictures of me the other day and I've to admit I have come a looooooong way :) and I'm so proud of myself and this motivates me even more to work harder and tone up my arms and stomach by losing the 'sway' in my arms and flattening my stomach. My thighs are way smaller and my waist is a lil smaller too to the point where I'm forced to wear my belt on the very last hole and still my pants fit lose :) progress progress progress

Now I'll not forget to pat myself on the back but I'll also not let myself get caught up in the progress and lose sight of the bigger picture. I want to see more and more changes in me as I become healthier and more fit :) I'm yet to enroll in a gym and invest in good weights. Pretty soon though. So watch this space.

All the best as you continue on your journey!

My First Award/10 Things About Me

The lovely Alexia over at
my wicked, wicked ways was gracious enough to award me the above -fabulous sugar doll blogger award- above. Lexia's blog was the first blog I came across when I started my own weight loss blog. She's honest, funny, and witty all in one and simply awesome to say the least. Thanks, Lexia!!!

According to the guidelines of the award, I'm required to share 10 things you don't already know about me. So here goes;

  1. I love love love to read. I think my greatest wealth on earth is books. Now if only I could find as good a book club as Jane Austen's
  2. I love summer but the heat gets to me. I'm constantly in the need of an air conditioned car/room. I won't walk in the heat because I feel like dying, literally
  3. I prefer winter over summer. This is how I see it, in the winter I can layer up until I reach a desired body temp. then shed off the layers if I get too hot, whereas the summer, I could be nekkid and still sweating like a pig
  4. Today it's over 100F in my neck of the woods and I've drank close to 3, 000ml/3L of water
  5. In the past I've feared I may contract hyponatremia from the large amounts of water I consume
  6. I've never in life signed up for a gym membership but I am about to by the end of this month *fingers crossed*
  7. I'm a registered nurse (RN) so be nice to me because I just might be your nurse someday :) haha
  8. It's summer and I'm curbing all the junk food snacking by stocking my fridge up with fruits (mostly watermelon and mangoes) which reminds me I'm down to my last mango. Mental note: stop at the grocery store
  9. As a nurse I'm constantly surrounded by comfort food e.g. cookies, donuts, sees candies and a variety of other foods which are brought by other nurses or family in appreciation. I try my level best to stay clear of the break room and also by bringing a healthy snack (usually sliced fruit) to last me through my shift.
  10. I get off work and get home at about 8am and I'm dead beat which makes working out tough because I sleep all day and by the time I wake up I gotta get ready and its back to work again. A vicious cycle I tell ya! Thus taking me back to #6 why I want to sign up for the gym. That way I can wake up and go in the evenings before work or in the mornings after work depending on whar kind of night I had at work
I'll be back tomorrow with a list of the people I'll award/pass along this fabulous award to. Watch this space!!!

Tis The Season For Fruits

Sorry I've not written lately. I don't have any excuses so I dare not make any. I did not run a day all week last week neither did I walk or do any form of exercise. Not good I know so this week I'm going to do better by getting out there. I know I said I'd put up some pictures last week but I still haven't but I promise to get around to that soon.

On a good note, I've been pigging out on fruits and chugging tons of water. I love summer because of all the fruits available. Watermelon (with a sprinkle of pico de gallo) yum!, cantalope, red plums, nectarines, mangoes and peaches. Today I went grocery shopping and they had a a great deal on mangoes. Each for $.78 so I bought several and a big ass watermelon for under $3. I had one mango tonight and it was just scrumptious, very juicy and filling.

On a bad note (lol) I've not been having breakfast. The world cup (WC) hasn't helped either because the staying up means sleeping in which means missing breakfast and having a super later lunch followed but an even late dinner. I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day so when I'm up at that time of the day I'll make sure to have some. In the meantime I'll keep eating plenty of fruit, chugging water, and running my tush OFF!!!

Thank you for stopping by!!!
